I'm really enjoying the new changes to my home.....

I find I'm cooking and actually BAKING almost everyday, because I love the look and feel of my new room.....

It doesn't matter what you want your kitchen to look like.... just do it....you'll find yourself hanging out in that space more often and picking up some chef skills.....

Yes that's a box of wine in the back ground...enjoy!

Wow it's been a while but here is our kitchen as of today

the island isn't ready so I made a mock island for the time being

It's hard to see the details....so I will take some pictures tonight in a different light.

This kitchen cost very little (aside from the appliances) because we saved as much as we could by finding the shelves in someones barn...and a lot of  shopping at second hand stores....don't under estimate them, they have so much variety, memories and character.

Well I'll post some more tomorrow

It's all looking up

Progress for the spring

While I'm listening to Van Morrison (best of) i decided to update our progress...even if I'm the only one that is seeing this...

I love the new oven...we've been married for 18 years...and it's only now that I've realized that we've never purchased an oven together....there's always something new to experience no matter how long you've been together!!!...the bottom cupboards have been recycled from an old kitchen that was part of this house when we purchased it...on both sides of the oven are a side board that was once a solid unit that I had cut in half to balance the old with the new.

Also there is a new piano we have now...it's from 1924.... that friends of ours needed to find a home for....it was her Mothers' ...  can't wait to get it tuned and maintain her beauty.

This was done by the artist who goes only by her first name...Janine

I am trying to keep inspired here but with my husband currently working on the neighbors kitchen so ours is on hold....again

I have signed up for a "crash course" on floral design....to help inspire me to get my business going.

There's only so much you can do with imagination, I need a pro to teach me all the tricks of the trade.

The course starts on the 15th of this month and I can't wait...plus it's in the "big city" so I get to dress up. I'll be taking lots of pictures of all the arrangements, the flower shop itself and the beautiful waterfront in Halifax, N.S.

Boring!!!

This sucks!!  Winter is ruining everything!

Just when you are ready to start something new for the kitchen another storm comes and you can't leave the house

Or in this case last week I had the flu...and now Alan has it....so again no progress!!

Oh well, I am starting a new business....which I am working on instead.

Here's my new business card....front

and back.

Years ago when Liam was living in my belly (I didn't know yet) I had a job at a florist...it's probably been my favorite job I have ever had....so I swore I'd go back to it when Liam was all grown. So I'm a florist again...I'm launching it April 14th

They say do what you love and it won't feel like a job! So here's hoping.

March and it's Madness

Well after this snow infested and flu infested February I am happy to be posting some progress with the kitchen renovation......
the strapping for the boards on the ceiling

One board up

The rest of the boards for the ceiling

Today we will have a ceiling..the hard part will be making them look random

I am happy to be up and well enough to be doing the kitchen again...I think all this snow and blah weather has everyone feeling a bit down...but have no fear spring is coming! Wednesday it's going to be plus 7 degrees so I'll be sanding and staining the sideboard....a happy color..wait and see.
